The Brazilian National Confederation of Industry will hold the event “Pre-COP28 Dialogue: the role of industry in the climate agenda” on September 12th, 2023. The aim is to promote a political dialogue between the public and private sectors on relevant issues of the climate agenda to be discussed at the 28th United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP28). Topics such as energy transition, sustainable financing, and business strategies for decarbonization will be discussed.
COP28 will be held in Dubai from November 30th to December 12th, bringing together government officials, business leaders, experts, and civil society representatives from around the world to assess the progress already made under the Paris Agreement and further advance the negotiations on the main topics of the Climate Agreement. Throughout the Conference, debates will be promoted on climate finance, the global carbon market, technology transfer, adaptation to climate change, capacity building in developing countries, and other topics, with relevant social issues also on the agenda.
In the current context of transition to a low-carbon economy, CNI is mobilizing the industrial sector and coordinating with the Brazilian government and other stakeholders to build regulatory frameworks that bring legal security to investors and expand Brazil's participation in the global value chain, capitalizing on the country's competitive advantages. The pillars of the “Industry Strategy for a Low Carbon Economy” are: energy transition; carbon market; circular economy; and forest conservation and bioeconomy.
